Physiotherapy Movement and Exercise Rehabilitation at RHP

Optimising Physical Health Across the Kinetic Chain

Physiotherapy is a highly specialised clinical profession dedicated entirely to preserving, restoring, and advancing the physical health of the human body. Physiotherapists help individuals of all ages and capabilities enhance how they move, recover from injury, and confidently interact with the world around them.

At RHP Physiotherapy, our ultimate mission is to support active people in remaining or returning to the activities they love. We look well past temporary surface fixes, focusing instead on diagnosing and correcting underlying mechanical patterns to establish long-term resilience.

You would typically consult an RHP Physiotherapist if you are:

  • Experiencing acute or persistent musculoskeletal pain.
  • Injured during competitive sport, workplace tasks, or daily life.
  • Managing a physical condition that restricts your ability to work comfortably.
  • Safely returning to active sport after an extended period of rest or injury.
  • Navigating functional movement challenges stemming from disease or a disability.

You do not require a doctor's referral to see an RHP Physiotherapist. You can book an independent private consultation directly with our primary care practitioners today.

A Collaborative Team Built on Clinical Experience

At RHP Physiotherapy, we recognize that achieving your physical and athletic goals frequently requires a unified, collaborative effort. Our clinic is led by Principal Physiotherapists Andrew Grigg and Sam Donaldson, coordinating an expert team of practitioners with over 100 years of combined clinical experience.

We are proud to maintain close professional networks with a wide range of sports physicians, orthopedic surgeons, coaches, and allied health practitioners across Brisbane. If your doctor, performance coach, or sports team management wishes to coordinate on your rehabilitation pathway, we actively communicate with them to ensure your recovery is seamless.

How We Help: Our Core Treatment Modalities

1. Biomechanical Analysis

Conducting comprehensive assessments of both general and troublesome movement patterns to accurately identify joint restrictions, structural muscle imbalances, or kinetic compensations.

2. Hands-On Mobilisation

Combining expert massage therapy with highly specific joint and soft-tissue mobilisations to rapidly reduce acute symptoms, restore range of motion, and clear local structural deficits.

3. Targeted Conditioning

Prescribing exact, evidence-based exercise interventions to restore optimal motor control, improve core movement stability, and build lasting tissue strength.

4. Advanced Clinical Care

Utilizing specialized clinical tools—including dry needling, assistive recovery devices (such as custom bracing or crutches), and structured guidance to safely navigate your long-term health.

Physiotherapy Qualifications & Standards

To practice in Australia, every physiotherapist must graduate from a rigorous undergraduate university program or a graduate-entry Masters of Physiotherapy Studies. At RHP, our dedication to clinical excellence extends far beyond standard baseline entry.

APA Titled Physiotherapists

A number of our past and present team members have earned formal postgraduate Masters degrees, securing recognition from the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) as Titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapists.

Biweekly Clinical In-Services

We maintain a rigorous, fortnightly routine of internal educational seminars. These sessions are led by our senior staff alongside visiting medical professionals, including sports medicine physicians, podiatrists, and orthopedic surgeons.

Evidence-Based Treatment

By constantly studying current medical literature and participating in continuing professional development, our staff ensure your treatment matches the absolute latest in physical healthcare science.

Physiotherapy - Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a GP referral to see an RHP Physiotherapist?

No. Physiotherapists are primary practitioners, meaning you can book an appointment directly with us at any time. However, if you are looking to claim third-party subsidized funding pathways—such as WorkCover Queensland, a DVA card, or a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan—you will require an official medical referral from your GP.

What should I expect during my first appointment?

We begin with a thorough subjective conversation to fully understand your personal goals and physical history, immediately followed by a dynamic movement analysis. We then move into specialized strength, structural, and joint testing to locate the true mechanical driver of your issue.

Why do you analyze gait for non-running injuries?

Walking is the foundation of human movement. By carefully mapping out your gait cycle, we gain a clear window into how your entire kinetic chain interacts from the ground up. This assessment often highlights remote muscle imbalances or joint adaptations that create pain further up in your back, shoulders, or neck.

Is your treatment mainly exercise-based or hands-on?

We believe in a highly balanced approach. We use targeted hands-on manual therapy initially to clear restrictive joint blocks, relieve muscle spasms, and manage your immediate symptoms. This window of comfort is then supported by specific strength exercises to lock in your movement quality for the long run.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Because our clinical team performs dynamic movement and gait screenings, please wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing (such as standard gym attire). If we are evaluating a lower limb injury (hip, knee, ankle, or foot), wearing shorts is highly recommended.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends entirely on your unique condition, tissue healing timelines, and structural goals. After your initial clinical assessment is complete, your physiotherapist will present a clear, individualized recovery roadmap outlining your expected recovery milestones and timeframe.

Can I claim private health insurance on-the-spot?

Yes. Our Kelvin Grove clinic is fully equipped with on-site HICAPS facilities. This allows you to claim your private health fund rebate directly at the counter following your session, so you only ever have to pay the remaining gap amount.

Do you treat sports injuries only?

While our clinicians possess an extensive background working with elite national sports teams, we apply that identical high-level biomechanical analysis to everyone. We regularly treat post-operative orthopedic patients, chronic lower back conditions, structural age-related challenges, and deep office-ergonomic strains.

What happens if physiotherapy isn't the right solution for me?

If our diagnostic testing shows that your condition falls outside the scope of physical therapy, we step in as your clinical navigator. We will quickly coordinate a referral to a trusted orthopedic specialist, podiatrist, or medical professional within our professional network to keep your health moving forward safely.

Do you provide home exercise programs?

Absolutely. We know that what you do between clinic appointments is vital to your recovery. We provide clearly structured, straightforward home exercise programs tailored directly around your lifestyle, calendar, and whatever equipment or gym access you have available.
