Remedial Massage
What is Remedial Massage?
Massage has been used to treat pain for thousands of years. Remedial massage is a hands on therapy aimed at manipulating the soft tissues of the body – the muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia.
Remedial massage therapists use techniques like trigger pointing, myofascial release and stretching to help relieve pain and muscle tension caused by musculoskeletal dysfunctions, poor posture and overuse or misuse of muscles.
Differing from relaxation massage, remedial massage is much more specific, using techniques to target the source, not just the symptoms of the pain. Remedial massage focuses on assisting the body’s natural processes to restore itself to proper function.
Regular massage can help to maintain a healthy body and lifestyle and is recommended for everyone, especially athletes that are regularly training and competing.
